JAKARTA: Kuwaiti Ambassador to Indonesia Nasser Al-Anzi yesterday hailed the leading role played by Kuwait in the field of helping the needy, both from a government and public standpoint. Anzi praised the important role played by the Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) on extending help to the needy around the world.
He mentioned KRCS chairman Barjes Al-Barjes's efforts to soon officially open the Ahmad village in Banda Aceh province, Indonesia, noting that the village is in the region that was destroyed in the 2004, by a tsunami and which contains 150 houses, a mosque and a medical center.
Meanwhile, in the province of Padang, Al-Anzi said that Kuwait had arranged to help the people in that area who suffered recently from an earthquake, as KRCS is offering its aid to the needy there.
He added that the assistance from KRCS to Indonesia includes tents, blankets, household utensils, food, sleeping mats and other relief materials. Regarding bilateral relations between the two countries, Kuwaiti Ambassador praised the strong and historical bilateral relations that are built on a true understanding of co-operation. - KUNA
